Accounting Manager

The hands-on Accounting Manager performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling moderately complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. You will maintain the accuracy of the ledgers and financial systems; assist in the preparation of budgets, annual audit reviews, and year end closings. You will be responsible for accounting related to various real estate development projects and real estate joint ventures as well as various aspects of general accounting within prescribed deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts for monthly close.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, as needed.
  • Create ad hoc reports for the joint venture partners and real estate team when requested.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and consolidation processes.
  • Maintain and improve financial analysis tools and models to proactively identify variances requiring further research during the month-end close.
  • Analyze and report key findings.
  • Provide analytical support to internal management.
  • Ensure that balance sheet reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review expense reports for accuracy and compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Assist in producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements and provide variance analysis on information which could include supporting revenue schedules, labor reports, and expense review.
  • Assist in the creation of the annual plan and quarterly forecasts for the client group.


  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting. CPA strongly preferred.
  • Accounting experience in real estate, public accounting experience with an emphasis on audit/assurance.
  • Candidate will understand the theories of accounting and have strong analytical skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications required; experience with real estate accounting software a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.
  • Ability to function as an integral team member, working under time constraints and meeting deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities.
